It is used in the engines of light cars and passenger cars, and is also called a fan belt. The belt itself is elastic.

In the case of a standard ribbed belt, tension must be applied to the belt using a tension pulley, but by using a Tensile cord with a low modulus of elasticity, the tension pulley becomes unnecessary, making it maintenance-free.
